We’re the Serwedes family—Matthew, Alison, and Owen—and we’re on a long-term mission to visit all 50 states together. It’s a goal that we set not to race through a checklist, but to really experience what each place has to offer. We will travel when we can, usually in between work, school, and the usual chaos of everyday life. Some Serwedes trips are planned months in advance, others happen on a whim. Either way, we try to make each stop count.

For us, it’s not just about stepping foot in a new state. We look for places that catch our interest—sometimes that’s a major science museum or a historic landmark, and other times it’s a quirky roadside attraction or a local doughnut shop that someone swears is the best in the country. We’ve learned that the most memorable Serwedes moments often come from the unexpected: a quiet trail we didn’t plan to hike, a train park tucked behind a neighborhood, or a planetarium show that completely captivates our son.

This blog is where we keep track of it all. It’s part travel journal, part family scrapbook, and part guide for anyone else trying to explore the country with kids in tow. We’re not experts, and we’re definitely not perfect travelers, but we’re figuring it out as we go—and having a lot of fun along the way.
